Qualified Boat Builder and holds a certificate in Computer Integrated Manufacture and Computer Aided Design (or C.I.M./C.A.D.) Fast Fibres was incorporated in May 2013, prior to this Bruce owned/managed “Beca Composites” from July 2006. Bruce’s years of relative experience includes projects at home in New Zealand as well as in Europe, England, Africa, The Caribbean and Canada. Projects include Volvo Ocean Race, Americas Cup, Kenwood Cup, TP 52, Open 60/Vendee Globe, numerous Farrier Trimarans and other small craft. Race car part fabrications are many and diverse, ranging from N.Z. Rally car to Bonneville Streamliner – which called for a complete aerodynamic design/evaluation and full composite body fabrication.

Design

When Dale Thomas of Kiwi Klimbers  imagined a new range of safe, lighter weight and efficient climbing equipment for the arbor care industry, Fast Fibres were able to turn those ideas and early concepts into reality. Fast Fibres completed initial R&D and rapid prototyping quickly and in-expensively. Later following up with detailed design solutions for production assemblies which, were extensively refined to deliver class leading products for Kiwi Klimbers.

Fast Fibres chief designer Bruce Beca has been designing with solid and surface modelling software since 2009. Understanding of what C.N.C. machines are capable of, and knowing the limitation is the difference between whats design-able and what can actually be produced. Fast Fibres can show you the way forward.

Composite Fabrication

Fast Fibres key projects include high performance yachts/multi-hulls and race cars. Always striking a balance between design time and workshop based activity F.F. employ the latest composite construction techniques and industry leading building materials. Fast Fibres will deliver the results your looking for. For larger projects, our pool of subcontractors are industry respected and their workmanship is second to none.

Take for example the two sister ships designed by Farrier Marine and built by Fast Fibres. These two identical F-32 s.r.x.c. racing trimarans were build to a fixed budget, before being sea trialed in Tauranga and later prepared for and exported to Australia.

In order to win this contract, Fast Fibres had to demonstrate a competitive price point, ensure highest build quality and use superior building materials. This project was completed using talented trade persons who are regularly contracted by Fast Fibres for such projects. Our contractors are chosen because of their many years relative experience, building the likes of A.C., Open 60, Volvo Ocean Race, and other such performance yachts.

Fast Fibres recently completed the fabrication of this custom aerodynamic aid to suit an international Time Attack car. This one piece infused carbon attachment is designed to marry up with the cars existing front body panels, in-spite its mere 18 Kg weight, it produces over 1000 Kg of down force at peak speeds. The owner chose Fast Fibres not only because we understand composites very well but also aerodynamic principals. F.F. has been working on race cars and with owner to go faster since 2006.
